My name is Erika Nolley Furman. I first taught English, then Math, and finally PE and Health when I worked for 9 years in Virginia. During this time, I met my husband, Wayne, and we started a family together. We have our son, Iain, who will be 6 in December and our daughter, Bella, who will be 3 in December as well. In the summer of 2011, my family moved back to my hometown of Mullens, WV. This past school year, I was a Title I teacher, and I worked in between the schools of Mullens and Pineville Elementary. When I worked with my small groups in Tier, I often used brain breaks. These were great to get the students back on track in between activities. This coming school year, I will be teaching 1st grade at Mullens Elementary. As I move in to that new phase of my life, I am anxious to use brain breaks with my class. I can see a lot of benefits in these. Okay, before we move on to Brain Breaks, let me offer you my contact information in case you need to ask me anything.
